In the sheet-metal workshop at Haiyue Electric, the hum of machinery mingles with the rhythmic clanging of metal. Yu Wangyun, head of the bending team, leads her crew in meeting project deadlines through unwavering dedication and laser focus, employing a hands-on, practical approach to ensure the team sets the standard for on-time delivery throughout the workshop.

Proactively take responsibility in the face of pressure.

In early 2025, the bending team faced a severe staffing shortage. Three veteran employees resigned one after another, leaving only Yu Wangyun as the sole remaining member. At the same time, the company’s EV charging station project entered a critical phase, resulting in a substantial increase in bending workloads. Despite the pressure, she did not back down; instead, she proactively took on the responsibility of mentoring three new employees.

From bending processes to equipment operation, she provided step-by-step explanations and repeated demonstrations time and again. During that period, she often stayed late in the workshop with new employees, working overtime well into the night. A colleague remarked: “Sheet metal is very heavy—even male workers find it no easy task to handle—but she never once complained.” After three months, the team gradually emerged from its difficulties, and the new employees were able to operate the equipment independently one after another. Yu Wangyun said: “Seeing them grow and mature is far more rewarding than accomplishing the task on my own.”

Women’s Power in the Workshop

In the male-dominated sheet-metal workshop, Yu Wangyun stands out remarkably. She not only operates heavy-duty equipment with expert proficiency but also maintains meticulous efficiency in material feeding and seamless on-site management. Under her skilled hands, steel plates are precisely bent with crisp, clean movements.

Speaking about her work, she said, “Responsibility is paramount. When a project is under tight deadlines, I must deliver on my end and see it through to the very end.” The understanding and support of her family also enable her to devote herself fully to her job.

Work diligently and pass on experience.

Today, the bending team has resumed normal operations, yet Yu Wangyun continues to mentor new employees. She places great emphasis on learning through hands-on experience while also underscoring the guiding role of theory in practical work. Her willingness to share her many years of bending expertise has not only enhanced the team’s overall capabilities but also provided critical support for the company’s charging-pile and new-energy businesses.

“Only by doing more and taking greater responsibility in my role can I feel truly at ease.” This simple statement encapsulates her down-to-earth approach. Through consistent performance and solid technical expertise, she has earned the trust of her team and demonstrated the professionalism and perseverance that women can bring to the industrial sector.
