“To date, the 3-megawatt distributed photovoltaic power generation project at Hangzhou West Station has generated more than 2 million kilowatt-hours of electricity.” What fills Zhang Leiming, Chairman of Ningbo Haiyue Electrical Appliance Manufacturing Co., Ltd. in Luotuo Subdistrict, with pride is that the project utilizes seven types of PV-related distribution cabinets manufactured by Ningbo Haiyue, including grid-connection cabinets, metering cabinets, and step-up transformers.

As a key nodal project under the “Yangtze River Delta on Rail” initiative and an important transportation support project for the Hangzhou Asian Games, Hangzhou West Railway Station is entrusted with the vital mission of welcoming and seeing off guests from all over the world. The project has installed a total of 7,540 monocrystalline silicon photovoltaic modules on the station’s roof, covering a total area of 15,000 square meters.

“This project adopts a grid-connected model of ‘self-generation for self-use, with surplus power fed into the grid,’ and is expected to generate an average of 2.31 million kilowatt-hours of electricity per year,” said Zhang Leiming. He added that the electricity generated by the project will be prioritized for powering lighting, air-conditioning, and other equipment and facilities at Hangzhou West Railway Station. The project is also projected to save more than 830 metric tons of standard coal and reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 2,300 metric tons annually, thereby providing practical support for a ‘Green Asian Games.’”

The grid-connection cabinet for photovoltaic systems is a key piece of equipment for this project. “In this project, our PV-compatible distribution cabinets primarily serve to step up voltage, connect to the grid, and perform metering,” said Chen Xuebo, head of the Technical Department at Ningbo Haiyue. Prior to serving this project, Ningbo Haiyue’s PV-compatible distribution cabinets had already been deployed in the photovoltaic power-generation project for the Beijing Winter Olympics Press Center. Chen Xuebo was involved throughout the entire process, from design and manufacturing to delivery and commissioning.

In May 2022, following the opportunity presented by the photovoltaic power generation project at Hangzhou West Railway Station, Ningbo Haiyue mobilized its most capable personnel from across departments and promptly established a dedicated task force to provide tailored support for the Asian Games. “I’m truly fortunate—first I got to serve the Winter Olympics, and now I’m serving the Asian Games,” said Chen Xuebo, head of Ningbo Haiyue’s Asian Games task force, his delight evident.

Ningbo Haiyue assembled its top production experts and key personnel to meticulously manufacture photovoltaic-compatible distribution cabinets, successfully delivering the products within the stipulated one-month timeframe. To ensure the products performed optimally, Ningbo Haiyue dispatched specialized technicians to Hangzhou West Station to install and commission the photovoltaic distribution cabinets; Chen Xuebo, deeply concerned about the project’s success, also traveled to Hangzhou West Station. “We completed the on-site installation of the photovoltaic distribution cabinets in just five days,” he said. In September 2022, the project passed inspection by the relevant authorities and was connected to the grid for power generation.

Ningbo Haiyue, which has been developing on Camel Street for 20 years, has consistently pursued innovation and deep cultivation in the electrical industry, holding nearly 30 patents for inventions and utility models. In the first half of 2023, Ningbo Haiyue’s products were sold across numerous regions nationwide, including Sichuan and Guangxi, and were also exported to overseas markets such as Indonesia, achieving an output value of RMB 120 million—a year-on-year increase of 10%.
