As a key nodal project under the “Yangtze River Delta on Rails” initiative and an important transportation support project for the Hangzhou Asian Games, Hangzhou West Railway Station shoulders the critical mission of welcoming and seeing off guests from all over the world. Notably, the station’s 3-megawatt distributed photovoltaic power-generation project utilizes seven types of PV-related switchgear manufactured by Ningbo Haiyue Electrical Appliance Manufacturing Co., Ltd., including grid-connection cabinets, metering cabinets, and step-up transformers.
“This project adopts a grid-connected model of ‘self-generation for self-use, with surplus power fed into the grid,’ and is expected to generate an average of 2.31 million kilowatt-hours of electricity per year.” Zhang Leiming, Chairman of Ningbo Haiyue, told reporters that the electricity will be prioritized for powering lighting, air-conditioning, and other facilities at Hangzhou West Railway Station, thereby supporting a “green Asian Games.” It is estimated that the project will save more than 830 metric tons of standard coal and reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 2,300 metric tons annually.
Ningbo Haiyue is a private enterprise located in Luotuo Subdistrict, Zhenhai District, Ningbo. With 20 years of dedicated expertise in the electrical industry, the company holds nearly 30 patents for both invention and utility models, with its products widely sold across regions such as Sichuan and Guangxi and also exported to overseas markets.
In recent years, new energy industries—led by photovoltaic power generation—have experienced robust growth. Ningbo Haiyue has independently developed photovoltaic grid-connection cabinets and other PV-related distribution equipment, which have been well received by the market and deployed in the photovoltaic power generation project at the Beijing Winter Olympics Press Center.
Last May, Ningbo Haiyue was fortunate to secure the opportunity to undertake the photovoltaic power generation project supporting Hangzhou West Railway Station. The company promptly assembled elite teams from various departments and established a dedicated Asian Games Service Task Force to provide precise, tailored support for the project. “We’re truly blessed—first serving the Beijing Winter Olympics, and now the Hangzhou Asian Games,” said Chen Xuebo, head of the Asian Games Service Task Force, visibly excited.
“In this project, our photovoltaic auxiliary distribution cabinets primarily serve to step up voltage, connect to the grid, and perform metering,” Chen Xuebo told reporters. He added that the company’s top production experts and core team members meticulously refined the photovoltaic auxiliary distribution cabinets, ensuring on-time delivery within one month.
To ensure the product delivers superior performance, Ningbo Haiyue dispatched specialized personnel to Hangzhou West Station to install and commission the photovoltaic auxiliary distribution cabinets.
“In September last year, the 3-megawatt distributed photovoltaic power generation project at Hangzhou West Station passed inspection by the relevant authorities and was successfully connected to the grid, with cumulative power generation exceeding 2 million kilowatt-hours to date,” Zhang Leiming said.
Taking photovoltaic-compatible switchgear as its strategic foothold, Ningbo Haiyue has continuously extended its industrial chain. In the first half of this year, the company connected a 4,500-square-meter rooftop distributed PV project to the grid, which is expected to generate 320,000 kilowatt-hours of electricity annually and reduce carbon emissions by 12.9 tonnes. “Through this project, we have steadily upgraded our independently developed photovoltaic-compatible switchgear,” said Chen Xuebo.
From January to June this year, Ningbo Haiyue achieved an output value of RMB 120 million, a year-on-year increase of 10%. “This is closely linked to our proactive entry into the new-energy sector,” Zhang Leiming told reporters. In the 2023 Ningbo Municipal Catalogue of Recommended High-Quality Products, six products from Ningbo Haiyue were listed, one of which is the company’s new electric-vehicle charging pile.
According to reports, Ningbo Haiyue has independently developed two types of electric vehicle charging piles—fast-charging and slow-charging—capable of delivering 60 kWh and 7 kWh of charge per hour, respectively, making them suitable for both public and residential charging applications. Currently, the company’s charging pile products are already in use at Ningbo Rail Transit employee dormitories and residential communities, among other locations.
“We are proactively forging ahead in new fields and continuously building up new momentum for development,” Zhang Leiming told reporters. He added that the company’s R&D team launches four to five new products each year to meet evolving market demands and drive steady growth in corporate performance.
