[Ningbo Daily] Deeply Rooted in the Electrical Industry: Ningbo Haiyue Strikes Gold with “Electricity”

High in the SCM mining area of Southeast Sulawesi Province, Indonesia, technicians Zhou Lingshun and Tang Guiduo from Ningbo Haiyue Electrical Appliance Manufacturing Co., Ltd. are providing technical support for the Huayue SCM Mine High-Voltage Electrical Equipment Project. The high- and low-voltage switchgear used in this project is precisely Ningbo Haiyue’s flagship product.
Late one night in mid-October, as the indicator lights and meters on the distribution equipment panel illuminated, the trial energization of the B123 distribution room at the SCM mine was successfully completed, bringing smiles to the faces of Zhou Lingshun and Tang Guiduo. Thanks to their overtime commissioning efforts, they managed to make up for the time lost due to local flash floods and landslides. “To ensure product performance and service quality, we dispatched personnel to Indonesia to provide technical guidance for on-site installation,” said Zhang Leiming, Chairman of the company, adding that, according to the project schedule, the two technicians will remain in Indonesia until August this year.
Ningbo Haiyue is a private enterprise located in Luotuo Subdistrict, Zhenhai District, Ningbo. For the past two decades, it has been deeply engaged in the electrical industry. “Only by striving relentlessly in new fields can we continuously generate inexhaustible momentum for development,” said Zhang Leiming. Thanks to substantial investment in R&D, the company’s research team of more than 20 engineers launches four to five new products each year to meet evolving market demands.
In the recently released 2023 Ningbo Municipal Directory of Recommended High-Quality Products, a total of six products from this enterprise were included, encompassing both established offerings such as packaged substations and high-voltage automatic reactive power compensation devices, as well as new products like electric vehicle charging stations and photovoltaic equipment.
Take electric-vehicle charging stations as an example: Ningbo Haiyue’s charging products are already in use at Ningbo Rail Transit employee dormitories, residential communities, and other locations. In the demonstration area, the reporter saw two models of EV chargers—one capable of delivering 60 kilowatt-hours per hour and the other 7 kilowatt-hours per hour. “These are fast-charge and slow-charge EV chargers that we have independently developed, tailored for public-use charging stations and home charging, respectively,” said Chen Xuebo, an engineer in the company’s R&D department, who has witnessed the entire journey of the enterprise’s EV charging infrastructure—from its inception to full-scale deployment. He told the reporter that developing the software components, such as the billing platform, has been the most challenging aspect of building these charging stations; by collaborating with third-party partners to tackle and optimize these technical hurdles, the team ultimately succeeded in overcoming this “hard nut to crack.”
In recent years, the new-energy industry, led by photovoltaic power generation, has experienced robust growth. Seizing these new opportunities, Ningbo Haiyue has independently developed a grid-connected photovoltaic switchgear that has been deployed in major projects such as the photovoltaic power system at the Beijing Winter Olympics Press Center and the 3-megawatt distributed photovoltaic power project at Hangzhou West Railway Station.
“Although our company is relatively small in the domestic electrical industry, we enjoy considerable room for growth. By continuously enhancing the performance of our established products while investing in R&D to create new offerings that meet market demand—effectively pursuing both existing and emerging markets—we can ensure steady improvement in corporate profitability,” Zhang Leiming told reporters. He added that Ningbo Haiyue posted a strong start to the year in the first quarter, with particularly noteworthy results: from April 1 to 10 alone, the company shipped high- and low-voltage switchgear and other products worth RMB 30 million to customers across the country.
